Blurb of the book:

A Punjabi kudi from Delhi working in the city of joy, Kolkata is joined by her crazy cousin, Arjun and his sober friend Aditya to come of age while at a long - distance relationship which seems to be going nowhere. She knows it is a recipe for disaster but should she let go or not? Should she hope for the best? Hope she will be accepted? Hope she can settle down? Hope she can come to terms with a family secret bothering her for years now? Just hope. Keep hoping? And then, Hope welcomes a ray of sunshine. Naina welcomes you to look at life from her perspective. 'Hop'e On!'

Review

Long distance relation ships can be tricky. It might or might not work. Especially in modern times.

Naina is in love with Ved. They live apart in Kolkata and Patna. They met during MBA and fell in love. Ved mother has tumor and he is always busy in taking care of her. He could not bring himself to tell his family about Naina. Meanwhile she is busy in making her career. She cracks a big deal and is ecstatic. Her brother Arjun supports her all the time. She is attracted to her colleague Aditya. Aditya is a sorted person who happens to be very handsome too. This doesn’t help the matters at all. But at the same time, she thinks of Ved.

Adi calls her sunshine. And she regards Adi her hope. Hence the name of the book. The book uses hinglish and colloquial lingo. The pacing is good and one can easily go with the flow. There is no suspense as such where the story is going. It becomes repetitive after initial chapters and there is no plot building after that. The same scene repeats one after other. Ved is a coward who happens to be very insecure too. So, there was no surprise for me when she dumped him. Though she tried to soften the blow by saying things about how he made her grow etc. Let me reproduce the passage

“But I truly thank you for coming in my life and help me grow up. You were a beautiful chapter and I cant thank you enough for just being what you are. You are a great human being. I have always admired the way you cared for your parents but this chapter has to end here.”

I find the heroine very confused and emotional. However Aditya is very mature and emotionally stable. 3.5/ 5 stars.
